Weekly Bulletin – 28 July 2024

A warm welcome to all who are worshipping with us this Sunday—whether you are with us in person, online or joining us over the telephone!
For Sunday service information, see below. You can access our services through our website (www.standrewsbaptist.org.uk; for access, see details at the bottom of this bulletin)

This Sunday:
10am: Abi Ngunga will be preaching on “God’s 24 hour visit” based on Genesis 18-19. This service will include Communion, so if you are joining us online, please have your wine (or juice) and bread ready.
Special collection: The special collection during the Communion service will be for Open Doors. Every day, millions of Christians risk their lives to follow Jesus. In more than 60 countries, Open Doors supports them by supplying Bibles, providing emergency relief and helping persecuted believers stand strong for the long-term. In the UK and Ireland, Open Doors helps the church to pray, give and speak out for those who share our faith but not our freedom.
6:30pm: Fiona Barnard will be preaching our “Elijah and the voice” based on 1 Kings 19.
Rooted and Impact have finished for this term. Rachel is organising some youth gatherings throughout the summer, contact rhenry@ylinternational.org for more information!

Last Sunday (21/07/2024), Pastor Abi described the planned mission trip to Democratic Republic of Congo at the end of the summer. The church has agreed to support that trip financially as part of our mission endeavours. At this time of year travel is expensive, so we have allocated £3000 for the trip. Many people have asked how they can help. In addition to prayer, we are happy to receive gifts to the church. These can be in an envelope (we have some available), or by bank transfer. Either way, please identify the gift as supporting the trip. If you already give using Gift Aid please put your name somewhere, since we can claim tax paid on any additional gifts you make to St Andrews Baptist Church. Many thanks in anticipation.

Prayer items for July:
Sunday: Give thanks to God for all His goodness to us and all His work among us and through His church. Pray for the growth of the church both numerically and in-depth of discipleship, for God wants His church to grow.
Monday: Give thanks to God for the recent peaceful UK general election. Pray for peace and healing for those who have lost. Pray for good governance from those who have been elected. Pray that the government will be just and compassionate and that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.
Tuesday: Give thanks to God for all the youth camps (with Mihai in Romania and Young Life) that have taken place and pray for those still yet to take place. Pray for God to continue working in the lives of those who have been exposed to the Good News and those yet to be exposed to it.
Wednesday: Pray for the safety and success of the Shipwrecked Holiday Club (Monday 12 to Friday 16 August) taking place at Canongate Primary School playing fields here in St Andrews.
Thursday: Pray for healing, strength, and sufficient/sustaining grace for those who are struggling with health issues. Pray too for patience and strength for those who are lovingly caring for them.
Friday: Pray for peace, justice, and stability in countries from where people flee, so that fewer people are forced to leave their homes and seek shelter.
Saturday: Pray for the Lord to return – with just one word: maranatha!
