From the treasurer: If you are a UK tax payer, then giving by Gift Aid allows SABC to claim an additional 25p from the HMRC for every £1 you donate. Last year, Gift Aid additional claims made up approximately 15% of StABC’s income. If you are a higher rate taxpayer then you will also be able to reclaim income tax personally on your gift. The process is very easy and you do not have to decide in advance how much you want to give. For more information, please contact Matt email@example.com or speak to a Deacon who can arrange a form for you.
Sanctuary Mental Health Course: This eight week course was much enjoyed by those who attended in 2022 and we hope to run it again in early spring. If you would like to participate, or would like more information, please speak to Jane Harrison or email firstname.lastname@example.org
Fairtrade Fortnight 2023 February 27th to March 12th: You might like to use this fortnight to start a habit of buying Fairtrade goods or expand the range you normally buy. Check out the products in the Fellowship Room and seek out the logo at the supermarket. Know that the extra cost reflects the farmers receiving a guaranteed minimum price and the Fairtrade Premium with which to benefit their community and adapt to the effects of climate change. Speaking at COP27, Ghanaian Fairtrade ambassador Deborah Osei-Mensah said that shoppers across the world can help. “For consumers, I want each and every one to be more conscious of the products we buy. Together, let’s make the future fair.”
From Lucy Clarke at Storehouse: I’m getting in touch to let you know that Storehouse has our next giveaway on Saturday 1st April, 11am-3pm – just under two weeks away! As is the case with all our giveaways, no referrals are needed to come along. Folk will be given access to the foodbank, clothesline, a free hot meal and drink in the cafe, and a representative from Cosy Kingdom will also be on hand to offer advice and support on all things fuel and energy related. Please feel able to extend the invite to anyone who you think might benefit.
