If you volunteer for: Tots+, Creche, Beacon Kids, Hot Chocolate, Rooted or Pastoral Care we would encourage you to attend our training each year but remind you that it is mandatory to attend at least every 2 years. A creche will be provided. For further info, please contact Philippa Cook, and please register your intention to attend by emailing: safeguarding@standrewsbaptist.org.uk
Pastoral Visiting: As a church family we are the body of Christ in this place and we seek to support and care for each other: body, mind, and spirit. One of the ways we seek to do this is through our team of pastoral visitors. Each pastoral visitor is allocated a list of people who have opted to be part of our fellowship. The pastoral visitor takes particular responsibility to ‘look out for’ those people on their list. They will regularly pray for you, offer to visit you or meet up with you from time to time, and may be contacted in times of need. If you do not know who is your pastoral visitor, please speak to Jane Harrison or email pastoralcare@standrewsbaptist.org.uk. You may also contact Pastor Abi directly. Pastoral visitors receive relevant training and confidentiality is respected. The pastoral visitors are: Pastor Abi Ngunga and Jane Harrison (team leaders), Dave Angus, Philippa Cook, Ian Docherty, David Jackson, Careen Lindsay, Louise Miller, Norma Milne, Diane Palmer, Celia Sprot, Tricia Tooman. You will also find pastoral support through participation in home groups, prayer meetings, and other church family activities. “…so we cared for you. Because we loved you so much, we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well”. (1 Thessalonians 2:7)
PRAYER ITEMS FOR JANUARY:
Today: Thanksgiving for God’s faithfulness in 2025. We give thanks for the Lord’s steady hand over us in the past year. We praise Him for every quiet mercy and every clear act of grace that carried us through 2025.
Monday: Gratitude for the life and witness of the church. We thank God for the people who make up this congregation and have supported it through 2025. We remember moments of worship, fellowship, outreach, and growth, asking the Lord to strengthen what was good and refine what was weak.
Tuesday: Repentance and renewal as we enter a new year. As we look toward 2026, we ask the Spirit to search us and renew us. Where we have grown weary, distracted, or complacent, we pray for repentance and fresh obedience.
Wednesday: Guidance and vision for 2026. We ask the Lord to go before us into the coming year. Help us to discern where He is at work in our community and how He is calling us to join Him with courage and humility.
Thursday: Strength for mission and witness in Scotland. We pray for renewed boldness and compassion as we live and speak the gospel in our nation. May we be faithful witnesses to Christ in word and deed, trusting God for fruit in His time.
Friday: Care for the vulnerable and the weary. We lift before God those in our church and community who are struggling or sick. As we step into 2026, may our church be a place of refuge, truth, and tangible love, reflecting the heart of Christ.
Saturday: Hope grounded in God’s promises. We entrust the year ahead to Him, confident that He who was faithful in 2025 will remain faithful still, until Christ returns.
The morning service starts at 10am, in-person and online, and includes crèche and Beacons Kids’ provision. The evening service starts at 6:30pm.
