Transport Ministry: If you are struggling to get to church, or to healthcare appointments, email pastoralcare@standrewsbaptist.org.uk, and we will do our best to help.

Pastor Abi is on Mission Trip to DRC from Wednesday 14th August to Friday 6th September. During this time Pastor Paul Grinyer is covering for him for any emergency pastoral care. Non-urgent pastoral care continues to be available through the pastoral care team (pastoralcare@standrewsbaptist.org.uk). Alternatively, you may contact an elder or your pastoral visitor.

Pastor Abi recently described the planned mission trip to Democratic Republic of Congo at the end of the summer. The church has agreed to support that trip financially as part of our mission endeavours. At this time of year travel is expensive, so we have allocated £3000 for the trip. Many people have asked how they can help. In addition to prayer, we are happy to receive gifts to the church. These can be in an envelope (we have some available), or by bank transfer. Either way, please identify the gift as supporting the trip. If you already give using Gift Aid please put your name somewhere, since we can claim tax paid on any additional gifts you make to St Andrews Baptist Church. Many thanks in anticipation.

Student Welcome Lunch and Hospitality: If you would like to host students (2 or more) for lunch on 8 or 22 September as part of our student welcome or host students for meals on a semesterly basis (or both!), please contact Tricia at tricia@standrewsbaptist.org.uk. There will also be a BBQ for all students on 15 September with the Knudsons.

Painting of Fellowship Room: As part of a general upgrade the Fellowship Room will be unavailable from Monday 2 September until Friday 6 September and from Monday 9 until Tuesday 10 September while painting works are carried out. Access to the remainder of the building will be possible. The lunchtime communion is to be rescheduled to the 11 September. For information about the toddler group contact Jane Harrison or email toddlers@standrewsbaptist.org.uk.

The Scottish Bible Society is doing a weekend retreat for 18-30 year olds at Abernethy Trust from 30 August to 1 September. The Embers Retreat is “An adventure-filled weekend for 18-30 year olds who want to fan the flames of their faith”. The early bird cost is from £125 until 16 August and then from £145 until the day the retreat begins. To register, go to: www.scottishbiblesociety.org/embers-weekend-24

Prayer items for August:
Sunday: Give thanks to God for the privilege to worship Him freely and openly in this country. Pray for a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit, that our services may be times of encounter with the Living God.
Monday: Continue to pray for the safety and success of the wonderful outreach opportunity with the Kids’ Holiday Club (Monday 12th—Friday 16th August) at Canongate Primary School playing fields in St Andrews. After these dates, please look back and thank the Lord, and continue to pray for the kids and their parents. Pray also for schools as they return.
Tuesday: Give thanks to God for the de Jong family and pray for their safe travels and adjustment as they return to the Netherlands at the end of the month.
Wednesday: Pray for the salvation of those in our families, among our friends and neighbours who do not know yet the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour and Lord. Pray also for Abi’s safety, and effective ministry, during his mission trip to DRC.
Thursday: Pray for the consolation of the grieving families you know and those you don’t know. Also pray for peace in our nation, and nations torn by conflicts and wars.
Friday: Pray for strength and healing for those who are undergoing various treatments and those recovering from surgery or illness. Pray too for strength for their loved ones who are looking after them.
Saturday: Pray for the returning students and those who will be starting university over the next months. Pray that they may encounter the Lord throughout their student life.
