St Andrews Baptist Church Weekly Bulletin
Sunday 24 August 2025
A warm welcome to all who are worshipping with us this Sunday—whether you are with us in person or online.
For Sunday service information, see below. You can access our services through our website (www.standrewsbaptist.org.uk)
This Sunday:
10am: Abi Ngunga will be preaching on “Present blessings”, based on Haggai 2:10-19. This service will include Communion. If you are joining us online, please have your wine/juice and bread ready.
The Special Offering during the Communion service on Sunday 24 August 2025 will support Open Doors (https://opendoorsuk.org/). Every day, millions of Christians risk their lives to follow Jesus. In more than 60 countries, Open Doors supports them by supplying Bibles, providing emergency relief and helping persecuted believers stand strong for the long-term. In the UK and Ireland, Open Doors helps the church to pray, give and speak out for those who share our faith but not our freedom.
Hot Chocolate: Hot Chocolate’s first session went well last week. Thank you to all who came and everyone who has been praying. Please continue! The second session is next Sunday 31/08/25.
6:30pm: Abi Ngunga will be preaching on “Working: obeying and disobeying”, based on Daniel 5.
Rooted (P7–S2) and Impact (S3–S6) Youth Groups: 6:30-8pm and every Sunday. For details or to sign up, parents email rooted@standrewsbaptist.org.uk or impact@cornerstonestandrews.org.

Transport Ministry: If you are struggling to get to church, or to healthcare appointments, email transport@standrewsbaptist.org.uk or leave a message on 07388 616629. The coordinator will get in touch with you, and we will do our best to help you where we can.
In July and August creche will be set up each week in the room downstairs during the morning service. Parents will be responsible for their own children while they are in creche. A rota with volunteers for creche will start again in September.
At the Extraordinary Church Meeting on Wednesday 20 August, it was agreed to extend Clayton Mills’ role to fulltime, and to style that role as Ministry Coordinator. Planning for support for families and young people is ongoing. The key take-home message, voiced by Lindsay Glasgow, is “God’s work done in God’s way will not lack God’s supply”. Please pray.
Save the date! We are delighted to announce that we will be hosting an church picnic lunch on Sunday 14 September 12:00-2pm. More details will follow, but in the meantime, please put the date in your diary and be prepared to come along with sandwiches/refreshments for yourself and extra to share. This date coincides with the end of Freshers’ Week 2025 so it will be an ideal time to welcome students to our church and town. Please also pray for the sun to shine! For further information contact Margaret Sutherland (margaret@standrewsbaptist.org.uk) or Tamara Knudson (tamara@standrewsbaptist.org.uk).
Are you excited about the year ahead? Are you looking forward to our ministries starting up again? We are too! Keep your eyes peeled for further information about a week of focused prayer 8-14 September – Talking with God about the year ahead!
Pilgrim Care – can you help, please? Duties are to assist Luisa and Rona by serving soup and clearing up, and of course to chat to attendees. Details from Celia Sprot at celiasprot@hotmail.co.uk . Thank you.

PRAYER ITEMS FOR AUGUST:
Today: Give thanks to God for all those who have recently come to faith through the various ministries that have taken place during this summer. Pray that they may find a fertile soil (such as a church, a home-group, etc) where they can be nurtured and grow spiritually.
Monday: Pray for the individuals, couples, and families that have moved away, as they settle in their new environment and that the Lord may provide a church family for them where they can serve and be ministered to.
Tuesday: Pray for the summer Holiday Club held here in St Andrews by churches, and for the return of pupils and teachers to school this month.
Wednesday: Pray for our mission partners – those who are working locally and abroad. Pray for their good health and effective, fruitful ministries in all they do and seek to do.
Thursday: Pray for the leaders of the nations who are seeking to mediate for peaceful resolutions in various countries and regions worn out by conflicts, wars and famine. Pray for peace and justice for the victims of these conflicts and wars.
Friday: Pray for those who have been recently bereaved, that the Lord of all comfort will continue to comfort them in all their sorrows, so that they may comfort those in any trouble with the comfort they themselves are receiving from him.
Saturday: As we join Jesus in His mission, pray for the people to whom we are led to reach out to, that their arguments and every pretention that sets itself up against the knowledge of God may be demolished and that every thought be taken captive and be made obedient to Christ.
The morning service starts at 10am, in-person and online, and includes crèche and Beacons Kids’ provision. The evening service starts at 6:30pm.
Items for the bulletin: Items for the bulletin should be emailed to bulletin@standrewsbaptist.org.uk (or leave a message on the church answer machine, 01334 472285) (by Wednesday 6pm)
