From the Micah team: Christian Aid’s response to the recent UK Govt announcement to reduce overseas aid is available through this link (https://tinyurl.com/ymsxu546) and for those who wish to get involved there is a call to action to sign a petition. Thank you.
From Fiona Barnard: Godly Play is hosting a discovery day at St Andrew’s, St Andrews on 31 May 10am-4pm. Godly Play is a powerful way of entering into Bible stories for children, but also for adults. I love it and recommend it highly. More info in person or to sign up online at godlyplayscotland.co.uk
Christian Aid Week 2025: 11-17 May. Many of you will already be aware of Christian Aid and the incredible work they do across the world. Did you also know that each year in May, a door-to-door collection is carried out in support of Christian Aid week? In St Andrews all the churches work together in this door-to-door collection. Last year a grand total of £8,900 was raised of which the Baptist Church collectors raised £714 (£415 of which was gift aided too). This year’s Christian Aid week is seeking to raise funds to help support farmers with vital tools and training so communities can fight the effects of the climate crisis. Could you help by walking along a couple of streets delivering and collecting the envelopes? If so, please speak to Caroline or Mark Rochford who are the church’s new representatives. Thank you.
Rice Challenge: We are doing another Rice Challenge! You may remember we did this several times a few years ago. After the service on Sunday we will be selling Kilombero Fair trade rice which costs £2 per pack. We will take cash or you can use the card reader. A sack of rice is 90 packets, and the money from this goes straight to the farmers in Malawi who grow the rice (often women) and is used to educate a child for one year at secondary school. Please do support us! Thank you from the Micah group.
Cheryl Smith is taking part in the London Marathon to raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust. You can support her online by going to her Just Giving page: https://tinyurl.com/5cpetez7
